Lady Wildcats Softball Team Battles Lady Rams

The Franklin County Wildcats struggled early on in their season opener against the Ross Rams on Monday, ultimately losing 10-5.

Ross hit the ball hard and took advantage of Wildcat mental errors early on to put 8 runs on the board in the first two innings. The Wildcats never gave up, but were not able to dig out of the hole they made in the first two innings.

The Franklin County JV Wildcats lost a lead late in the game to fall to the Ross Rams on Monday night by a final score of 4-3.

It was a great game to start the season for the Wildcats and they jumped out to 3 runs in the first inning of the season. Then the pitching took over for both teams as zeros were thrown up across the board until the bottom of the 5th when the Rams were able to take advantage of some timely hits, a few errors, and a huge hop in the rough outfield (resulted in inside-the-park homerun) to score 4 runs and take the lead. This was enough to pick up the win as the Wildcats weren’t able to rally in the top of the seventh.

Top Performers for FC. Offense-Kylie Lea: 1/3 (Double), 2 RBI, 1 Run Scored; Shelby Rosenberger: 1/4 (Double), 1 RBI, 1 Run Scored; Shaden Galyen: 1/3 (Single); Cami Barker: 0/2, 1 BB, 1 HBP, 1 Run Scored; Bella Lee: 0/1, 2 BB, 1 Run Scored; Karlie Jones: 1/3 (Single); and Jasmyn Taylor: 1/3 (Single).

The JV Wildcats will be back in action on Saturday as they travel to Center Grove High School for the Trojan Classic. The Wildcats will play at 12 pm and 2 pm.
