Lady Wildcats Come Up Short Against Lady Spartans In Varsity & JV Play

The Franklin County Wildcats lost a tough one on the road Wednesday evening as they fell to the Connersville Spartans 10-9. This was an exciting game that had a lot of offense on both sides with many home runs. 

The Wildcats mounted a huge comeback in the top of the seventh inning when they hit two home runs to take the lead, 9 – 8. Then in the bottom half of the inning, the Spartans hit a two-run homer of their own to win the game 10-9

In the game, there were 9 home runs total for both teams (Franklin County had five and Connersville had four). The players that went deep for the Wildcats were Kassidy Schell, Camryn Brewer, Kiersten Schell, Josie Rolfes, and KK Ferman.

With the loss, the Wildcats fall to 9-7 (4-3 EIAC) on the season. Franklin County will be back in action on Thursday night when they host Batesville for an EIAC battle. First pitch scheduled for 5:30 PM.

The Franklin County JV Softball team’s remarkable win streak came to an end on Wednesday night as the Wildcats lost to the Spartans by a final score of 15-9.

Franklin County had one bad inning in the field when Connersville scored ten runs in the bottom of the second inning to take a commanding lead. The Wildcats couldn’t quite catch up as they outscored the Spartans seven to two the rest of the game, but couldn’t make to full come-back. The Wildcats outhit the Spartans 12 to 10, but unfortunately also had more errors in the field (four) as well.

With the loss, the Wildcats win streak of ten straight games was snapped and they fall to 10 – 3 (6 – 1 EIAC) on the year. Franklin County’s JV will be back in action on Thursday evening when they take on Batesville. First pitch for Varsity is scheduled for 5:30 PM. JV game will follow.
