Lady Wildcats And Lady Bulldogs Battle In EIAC PLay

Not the outcome we were looking for going in to the night. We fell to conference team Batesville in 2 sets. We stayed with them them but eventually Batesville was the one that pulled away 25-17, 25-23, 25-12. . We are alrwady fighting an illness running it’s course through the team. Besides myself, I have one girl out with strep and a possible 2nd girl getting it. These girl will meet up with Batesville again this season and hopefully we will all be healthy. Jalynn Rogers had 5 digs and 1 ace. Megan Getz had 4 digs, 5 assists and 1 kill. Kelly Layton had 3 digs and 4 assists. Meredith Bohman had 1 solo block, 2 ace serves and 3 kills. Anna Sacksteder had 1 solo block and 1 kill. Jenna Orschell and Kaitlynn Obert each added 2 digs. We are 2-3 for the season. We travel to N. Deacatur Thursday, start time 5:30pm. We are FC!!!

The JV Lady Wildcats came ready to play our against EIAC Batesville Bulldogs. They took down the dogs in 3 sets 24-25, 25-22, 15-5. All of the girls played a great game! We had our first EIAC match tonight against the Batesville Bulldogs, and the team fought hard for the win 25-13, 19-25, 15-13! Jenna Bruns and Alex Gillman each led the team in kills with 4. Kylie Lea had 2 blocks. Kacie Williams and KK Ferman each had 4 assists. I’m so proud of how hard these girls worked and can’t wait to watch them play East Central next week! Go Wildcats!! Courtesy of Wildcats Coach Jessica Baker.

From Bulldogs Coach Trenkamp.
The Freshman Lady Dogs had their opener.  It was a nail biter but the Franklin County Wildcats came off with the win in 3 games.  Scoring 10pts 4aces was Regina Gerstbauer and serving us 6pts with 3aces was Brayleigh Patterson.  The girls played very sound for their first match as a team.  Scores were 25-13, 19-25, and 15-13!

From Bulldogs Coach Prickel.
The Batesville JV Volleyball team fell to Franklin County in 3 games. Scores were 24-25, 25-22, 15-5. The team was competitive despite many unforced mistakes until the third game when they lost focus and morale dropped. Shelby Westerfeld led the team with 9 points serving. Katie Bedel chipped in with 8 service points. Front line and setter play was off tonight with well over a game’s worth of unforced mistakes. The girls look forward to some practice time to put in some work. Also, we will benefit from playing more cohesively in our next match. Our record is now 4-2.

Varsity saw its second EIAC victory in as many matches.  Well rounded play and set selection to the hot hitters mixed with spot serving was more than the lady wildcats could return.

Their only push cam in the second set where our demons returned to work against us.  We commited 9 hitting errors in the second set alone compared to the 10 combined from sets 1 & 2.  Actually having multiple hitters hitting high percentages was a first in awhile and shows we are gaining momentum.  #1 Bea Amberger hit .300 for the night and had 3 Blocks, while #20 Hattie Westerfeld hit .474 and had one ace.

Thursday, we have to up our game going into EC to play the undefeated Trojans.  Freshmen/C-team will kick off the night @ 5:00 PM with all teams playing back, to back, to back in the main gym.
