Lady Trojans Successful Weekend At Southport

EC Volleyball traveled to Southport for their annual invitational. JV finished 2nd, losing only to Southport in the championship. Varsity finished 3rd.

EC vs. Indianapolis Scecina.
Lost in 2. We started very slow in both sets, but gave them a run for their money at the end. I believe we are the better team, but we didn’t prove it on the court until it was too late. Scecina was very disciplined and I think that frustrated us. These girls showed a lot of heart int he second set being down more than 10 at one point. They refused to quit and ended up tying the game at 20 before giving up the final 5 point run to end the match.

EC vs. Indianapolis Lutheran.
Won in 2. We came out strong in the first set, attacking from every avenue to start the match. We pushed from the service line and offensively. In the second set, we let them stay in the game and go point for point too much, but they held strong and finished it in two.

EC vs. Tri-West.
Won in 3. This was probably the best game of the day for us and definitely the strongest competition. We were fired up and our defense came up big in all three sets. The girls finally bought into what the coaching staff has been saying and it showed on the scoreboard. We played our best volleyball of the season in this match and only look to build from here.

ECVB JV finished 2nd in the Southport tournament losing to the home team, Southport.

EC vs. Indianapolis Scecina.

ECVB JV started their morning off with a victory against Scecina. Even though we suffered behind the serving line, and gave one too many free points, the girls gathered themselves and finished strong. After the first set finished the jitters left and the girls played with more confidence and togetherness.  With one win in, we continue on to play Indianapolis Lutheran next in the Southport Invite.

EC vs. Indianapolis Lutheran.

Against Indianapolis Lutheran ECVB JV pulled out a tight 3 set victory. Lutheran was a very well matched competitor for they fought back throughout the entire match. With the lack of communication we dropped the second set but came back and went on a run in the third set. The girls were able to come together and figure out how to win in a pressure situation.

EC vs. Southport.

ECVB JV lost to the host team in two sets with the scores of 20-25 and 18-25. With the lack of communication and effort we laid down to Southport in two sets. Southport was a very disciplined team and it was very noticeable in the defensive aspect of their game. The girls continued to attack and push back but could not quite pull through. A loss can teach you a lot more than a win can and it is those lessons we will take and grow with.

ECVB JV is now 4-1 on the season.
