Lady Bulldogs Swept By Lady Wildcats On The Diamond

Batesville fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 13-0 loss to Franklin County on Thursday. Franklin County scored 2 runs with a lead-off walk and two singles in the first inning, and never looked back.
 

Oldham started the game for the Bulldogs and surrendered nine runs on eight hits over four innings with a defense that has lost some steam in the last couple of games behind her. She struck out five. Katie Mobley threw one inning in relief.

The Bulldogs managed just two hits in the game coming from Paige Oldham and Calli Fletcher who had one each.

Franklin County scattered ten hits in the game, with 2 over the fence.
 

The Bulldogs move to 4-2 on the season and 1-2 in the EIAC.

Batesville Bulldogs JV couldn’t keep up with Franklin County JV and fell 13-1 on Thursday.

Franklin County scored ten runs in the fourth inning. The offensive onslaught by Franklin County was led by Kylie Lea, Jasmyn Taylor, Shaden Galyen, Bella Lee, Kristen Ison, and Emma Stadtmiller, all driving in runs in the frame.

Samantha Kessens started the game for the Bulldogs. She allowed one hit and two runs over two innings, striking out two. Sydnee Schaefer and Katie Mobley each threw an inning apiece.

Georgia Mertz led the JV squad at the plate with two hits in two at-bats including a double in the third inning, which allowed her to come around to score for Batesville’s only run. 

The JV Lady Bulldogs will next be in action Friday evening at Madison.  First pitch will be immediately following the varsity game.

The Franklin County Varsity Softball team picked up their fifth consecutive victory on the road Thursday evening as the Wildcats defeated Batesville 13-0. The Wildcats scored in every inning of the contest and got great pitching from KK Ferman in the circle to grab the win!

The Wildcats had three players with multiple hits and had a total of eleven hits in the contest! Shout out to Anne Becker and Maci Lake for hitting home runs for the Wildcats!

With the win, the Wildcats improve to 5-2 (2-0 EIAC) on the season. Franklin County will be back in action on Saturday morning when they take on Union County (#2 2A Coaches’ Poll) in a doubleheader. The first pitch for game one is scheduled for 11 AM. Come out and support the softball team!
