Batesville JV softball was on the road Monday night and dropped the season opener to the East Central Trojans by a score of 12-8.

Batesville had a good night at the plate as they scattered 10 hits but several errors in the field proved to be too much for the Lady Bulldogs to overcome.  The Lady Bulldogs were led at the plate by freshman Calli Fletcher as she tallied 3 hits in 4 at-bats while driving in 2 runs and crossing the plate 3 times.  Athena Mitchell and Katie Mobley also had multi-hit games as they both had 2 hits apiece for the Lady Bulldogs.  Mobley drove in 3 runs on the night.  Georgia Mertz, Natasha Fowler, and Claire Saner each had a hit.

Mobley took the loss on the mound in her first career start.  She went all 5 innings, striking out 4 and allowing 8 hits.

The JV Lady Bulldogs will next be in action Thursday night against the visiting Franklin County Lady Wildcats.  The first pitch will be immediately following the varsity game.
