Lady Bulldogs Lose To Lady Knights

The Batesville Lady Bulldogs suffered a devastating home loss to conference foe South Dearborn on Tuesday night by a final score of 2-1. After a very uneventful first half, both teams went into halftime tied at 0 and both teams had only 4 shots on goal. In the second half, South Dearborn began an eventful second half by scoring in the first minute of the half. Erin Huber put the Lady Knights in front after collecting a loose ball inside the Batesville box for the score. The Lady Bulldogs began a stretch of their best soccer of the game after the South Dearborn score. Liz Heidlage would eventually net the equalizer off a corner kick from Ellie Cassidy. Cassidy drove the ball into the box and Heidlage headed the ball into the upper 90 and past the Lady Knight goalkeeper.

After a brief period of the game being tied 1-1, it was Huber again who was able to put the Lady Knights back on top as she netted the game winner with 28 minutes to play. Despite having several great looks at the goal, Batesville was unable to come up with a game tying score and the game ended 2-1. Both teams finished the game with 9 shots on goal. Coach Laker commented on the game, “Tonight was a tough loss to handle. We had hoped to avenge our sectional loss to South Deaborn from last season, but instead we walked away with a tough defeat. We will go back to the drawing board tomorrow as we evaluate the film and hope to continue to get better as we look to peak at the end of the season.”
