Lady Bulldogs Get Hat Trick Over Lady Pirates

All three levels of Lady Bulldogs Volleyball saw victory at the hands of The Lady Pirates tonight.

From Freshman coach Erin Trenkamp: The Lady Bulldogs defeated in two matches the Lady Pirates. Serving up major points for the Dogs was Belle Wolters with 20pt 5 aces. The team overall had some great volleys and worked for their points. Katie Bedel and Kerigan Haskamp has some nice blocks and hits. Grace Laudick, Bailey Lare, and Paige Stirn were digging the ball well. Grace Sarringhaus , Shalee Harrington, and Nikki Fox had some good hits and digs. They looked amazing and played as a team for their last freshman match. Game one 25-16, game two 25-21! Good job ladies!!!

From JV coach Shelly Prickel: The JV volleyball team overcame sluggish play in game 2 to defeat Greensburg by the scores 25-15; 18-25; 15-6. The team is now 16-2 on the season. Kelsey Shupe scored 10 straight points in the 3rd set to regain the momentum on her way to a team high 16 service points including 3 aces. Anna Bauer mixed power with some well placed dinks to notch 8 kills, while Maria Weisbrod (5 kills) and Tori Kurtz (4 kills, 3 stuff blocks) were both strong in the front line for the Lady Dogs. Monica Gerstbauer had 17 assists in her 35 setting attempts. Shupe was the top in serve receive with 21 good attempts. The team will travel to South Dearborn tomorrow in the 2nd of 3 EIAC matches this week.

In the Varsity match, The Lady Dogs needed a reset for the win. In sets one and two we played well: Doing our job, serving, covering our hitters while disrupting the lady pirates in system play. Set three was when the wheels fell off… we were looking at 14-0 before we knew what happened. Answers were few and far between and we looked defeated. We have struggled with only focusing for 2.5 sets and it seemed like it was going to happen again. Going into the fourth I asked them to think of the night as a tournament. Match one was over and we had to rest our clocks for the next match. Set four became point for point scoring until the lady pirates opened up a lead and started to separate around 15. Reset number two. Keep the faith and control the pass was the plan. We pulled back into it when #17 Abigail Westerfeld took control from the service line with 2 Aces. She made it hard for them to return attacks and then set up #3 Morgan Meyer to bring us home with the last two kills. Dogs win: 25-23, 25-22, 9-25, 25-22.

We will return to Conference play tomorrow night @ South Dearborn. JV first serve is scheduled for 5.
