Lady Bulldogs Drop Battle To Lady Trojans

Batesville Bulldogs Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 10-0 loss to East Central on Monday. East Central took the lead on a home run in the first inning.
The Bulldogs struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing East Central, giving up ten runs.
East Central got things moving in the first inning, when #19 homered on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring three runs.
One bright offensive spot for Batesville was a bunt single by Emma Belter in the fifth inning.
#6 led things off on the rubber for East Central. She surrendered zero runs on one hit over five innings, striking out seven and walking three.
Abigail Westerfeld was in the circle for Bulldogs. She allowed 14 hits and seven runs over three and a third innings, striking out two. Kara Obermeyer threw two-thirds of an inning out of the bullpen allowing 2 runs.
East Central socked three home runs on the day. #19 put one out in the first and fifth innings. #12 had a long ball in the fourth inning.

Kylie Laker led the defense for the Bulldogs with 4 put outs and an assist. Belter finished with 3 put outs.

The JV Lady Bulldogs traveled on the road Monday evening to take on the East Central Trojans.  After putting up 2 on the board in the first inning, the Lady Bulldogs were unable to push across any more runs in the game.  The final tally was 11-2.
The JV Bulldogs quick start was propelled by a bunt single off the bat of Anna Gerth to lead off the game.  Chloe Saler was able to punch a ball through the infield on the next pitch to put runners on first and second.  Both runners were able to advance on a wild pitch before Sarah Ripperger shot a single up the middle for 2 RBI’s.
Gerth, Saler, Ripperger, and Molly Weiler finished the game with a hit a piece.  Ainsley Phipps got the start on the mound throwing an inning and a third before Morgan Biggs came on in relief for the remaining 3.2 innings.
Batesville JV Softball will next be in action Thursday evening as they will take on the Franklin County Lady Wildcats at home.  First pitch will be immediately following the varsity game.
