Lady Bulldog Spikers Take 2 Of 3 From Lady Wildcats

Dogs win two of three matches in the Dog Pound.

From freshman Coach Erin Trenkamp.
Tonight the freshman Batesville bulldogs had their closing game of the season.  We went out looking absolutely amazing, and taking the win in two games.  Game 1 was by far serving that took us to a win.  Sophie Lee served  us 8pts with 5 aces, and Regina Gerstbauer got us 7pts 1 ace.  Solid serving all around.  Our net play was also spectacular.  We worked hard to get to this point and they put it all together.  Game 2 was a great game.  Serving was Katie Shane with 4pts, Faith Tekulve and Regina Gerstbauer with 3pts each, Sophie Lee with 2pts, and Sydnee Schaefer with 1pt.  Bella Shields had some great digs in the back row. Scores were Game 1: 25-8, Game 2: 25-19.   Freshman finish 2-2 in the EIAC and 5-3 overall. Nice finish to the season ladies.

From JV Coach Shelly Prickel.
The Batesville Lady Bulldog JV team lost a hard fought battle to Franklin County in 3 games. Scores were 25-21, 25-20, and 16-14. Serving was not a strong suit for the match as the team failed to convert on match point in the 3rd set. Shelby Westerfeld led the front row attack with 6 kills in 17 swings, while Katie Bedel was close behind with 5 in her 16 attempts. Kerigan Haskamp and Bedel stepped up to play strong in the back row in the critical 3rd set. The team’s record falls to 12-5.

The Varsity match up was less exciting than the JV Match, as Batesville controlled the match in every aspect.  The girls went out focused and played the pass/serve game extremely well.  We had long service runs, multiple aces from different players and hot attacks from across the front line.  41 Kills and 13 Aces pretty much takes care of two of the three sets.  #23 Hattie Westerfeld was the hot hand last night coming out with a 20 Kill Match, followed by # 5 Macy Prickel with 9 kills herself. #5 also had the Ace lead for the night with four as she dominated the last nine points of set 3 taking us form a 16-16 tie to the win.

Dogs over Wildcats:  25-10, 25-9, 25-16.  Varsity is now 14-11 overall, and 6-5 in the EIAC.

We will travel to rival Greensburg for EIAC tip off on Monday, October 1st.  JV game time will be 5:00, with varsity following.
