Kentucky man critically hurt in I-74 crash

Dearborn County, In. — A Kentucky man was critically injured in an I-74 crash in Dearborn County over the weekend.

A report from the Indiana State Police says Michael Plaskowicki, 39, of Burlington, Kentucky, drove off eastbound I-74 at mile marker 168 and struck several trees. Plaskowicki was trapped in the vehicle for several minutes before being flown to University of Cincinnati Medical Center with critical injuries.

Investigators at the scene were not able to determine why Plaskowicki drove off the roadway. Evidence indicated Plaskowicki may have been traveling in excess of the speed limit and was not wearing his seatbelt when the crash occurred.  It is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision.

The Indiana State Police was assisted by the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Department, West Harrison Police Department, West Harrison Fire Department, and Dearborn County EMS.
