Kenneth R. Creigmile, 86, of Versailles passed away at 6 a.m., Sunday, March 30, 2025 at Ripley Crossing in Milan. He was born near Versailles on May 10, 1938, the son of Donald and Ina Patrick Creigmile. He was married to Maxine Cash on January 3,1959, and she preceded him in death on May 22, 2013. Survivors include two sons Steve Creigmile of Versailles and Jeff (Cindy) Creigmile of Centerville; two daughters Julie (Mark) Franklin of Holton and Cathy Creigmile of Burlington, Kentucky; six grandchildren Adam Creigmile and Brian Baugh both of Hebron, Kentucky, Caleb (Ashley) Creigmile of Morrow, Ohio, Isaac (Zoe) Creigmile of Wilmington, Ohio, Jacob (Megan) Creigmile of New Bern, North Carolina, and Ashlynn (Ruben Carrillo) Hubbard of Cheviot, Ohio; 8 great-grandchildren; one sister Janet (Dennis) Schwanholt of Versailles. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his sister Donna Nugent, and his brother Danny Creigmile. Mr. Creigmile was a 1956 graduate of Versailles High School. Kenny entered the US Army on August 8, 1956 and in January of 1957 he arrived in Korea serving with the 24th Infantry Division and also with Charlie Company 7th Calvary. He was qualified as a rifle sharpshooter and received the Good Conduct Medal. Kenny started farming in 1960 and worked in a Columbus factory for 5 years. He was a fourth-generation farmer and always enjoyed the harvest season. Later he worked for the Indiana State Highway Department for 17 years, retiring in 2007. Kenny was a member of the Tanglewood Baptist Church and the Milan VFW. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 3 at 1 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Burial will be in the Tanglewood Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Versailles American Legion. Visitation will also be on Thursday beginning at 11 a.m. Memorials may be given to the Tanglewood Cemetery or the Ripley County Humane Society in care of the funeral home. |
