Kathryn Ann Bader, age 79 of Brookville

Kathryn Ann Bader, lovingly known to most as Kate, was born on December 6, 1946, the cherished daughter of Aurther and Virgal Bartesko (née Edwards). She was a proud graduate of Fairfield High School, Class of 1964. On February 1, 1969, she was united in marriage to Donald R. Bader, and together they raised two sons. To say Kate was an animal lover is an understatement. She spent many years self-employed as a dog groomer, devoting her time and care to animals of all kinds. She also enjoyed volunteering with the 4-H program, where she was always willing to help members with dog training and grooming. In addition, she took great pride in visiting nursing home residents, sharing her time and her cherished therapy dog to bring comfort and joy. When Kate wasn’t working with animals, she could often be found sewing, crocheting, or embroidering. Above all, Kate loved her family and treasured every moment she was able to spend with her loved ones.

On Thursday, April 30, 2026, at the age of 79, Kate passed away peacefully with family by her side after a lengthy illness at Bethesda North Hospital.

Those surviving who will honor Kate’s legacy include her husband of over 57 years, Don Bader; two sons, Chris Bader (Arianna Newone) and Steven Bader (Kimberly Rose Fender); three grandchildren, Ella Rose Bader, Steven (Jessica) Bader, and Arianna Zurtia; three great-grandchildren, Parker Boehl, Carson Bader, and Gunner Bader, as well as several nieces. In addition to her parents, Kate was preceded in death by one sister, Audrey Butler.
