Karen E. Goris, 62, of Versailles passed away at 10pm Thursday, March 10, 2015 at the Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. She was born at Scottsburg on January 13, 1954 the daughter of Glenford and Ramona Butters Jenkins. Survivors include one daughter Heather Goris of Indianapolis; brothers, Norman Jenkins of North Pole, Alaska, Dennis Jenkins of Austin, and David Jenkins(Karen) of Underwood; sisters, Betty Rosengarn(Leroy) of Charlestown, Dorothy Shepherd of Lexington, and Wanda Poggel(Robert) Scottsburg. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Thomas Jenkins. After growing up on a farm in Scott County, Ms. Goris was a 1972 graduate of Scottsburg High School and received her Associates Degree in horticulture from Vincennes University in 1974. Karen moved to Versailles in 1981 and was a member of the Tyson United Methodist Church in Versailles where she has worked as church secretary for over 20 years. At the church she also participated in committee work, Bible study, and fund raising, but her favorite part of church was helping with VBS. She had also worked in the cafeteria at South Ripley High School for 20 years. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 15th at 10am at the Tyson United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Dixon officiating. Burial will be in the Crown Hill Cemetery at New Washington. Visitation will be on Monday from 5pm to 8pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 9am until time of services Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be given to the Tyson United Methodist Church accessibility fund in care of the funeral home.
