Julene Marcella Weber Vogelgesang, 92 years old of Lawrenceburg, IN passed away surrounded by family on Tuesday, October 29, 2024. Julene grew up in Manchester and attended Aurora High School before her family moved to Lawrenceburg where she finished her senior year and graduated in 1950. After graduation she worked at a jewelry store in Cincinnati before marrying and beginning her 51-year career at Joseph E. Seagram & Sons. In fact, when she retired from Seagram’s she had the highest seniority of anyone. Starting there as a seasonal employee, Julene typically worked the summer and fall months as Seagram’s geared up for the Christmas rush. During this time, she also went to beauty school and opened her own shop as a hairdresser in her home. But, she didn’t stop there. Julene also took on a job at Kroger working at the deli which she often started immediately after her Seagram’s shift ended. Asked if Julene loved to work, the answer was that she simply loved the social interactions at each of her jobs.
Julene was nothing but kind and giving. She loved having the family over for gatherings and enjoyed throwing a good party. It made sense in the beginning since her parents lived with her family, but even after her parents passed, she kept up the tradition of hosting holidays and get togethers. When her husband built a pole barn out back, Julene saw this as a great event space and used it as a party barn. Maybe this wasn’t exactly what Willard, had in mind when he built the pole barn, but she at least gave him a small corner to use as he liked.
Julene will be deeply missed by children Vicki (Mark) Clark and Nick Vogelgesang; sister Marcia Thelen; 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces & nephews. She is preceded in death by Willard, her husband of 60 years; daughter Amanda Cox; parents Jerome “Romie” and Isabel Dupps Weber; brothers William “Bill” Kermit and Duane Weber.
Services for Julene will be held on Monday, November 4 at St. Martin’s Campus of All Saints Parish. Visitation will begin at 10:00am and continue until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00pm. Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery. For those unable to attend, Mass will be live streamed at https://www.youtube.com/user/aspweeklyhomily. Memorials can be made to the Hospice Care of St. Elizabeth or American Heart Association. Memorials will be accepted at the visitation or can be mailed to the funeral home. Family and friends are encouraged to leave condolences at www.andres-wuestefeldfh.com
