John J. Ryan, 75, Moores Hill

John J. Ryan, 75, of Moores Hill passed away Friday, May 8, 2026, at his home with his loving family by his side. John was born on Saturday, December 9, 1950, in Cincinnati; son of Albert and Edna (Boelling) Ryan. John married the love of his life, Cliffie (Adams) Ryan, on May 24, 1975, and she survives him. John was loved by many and wore many hats throughout his life, known affectionately as Dad, Big John, Uncle John, and Papa John depending on who was fortunate enough to know him. John worked as a supervisor for Duke Energy for over 35 years. He was a very involved member of IOK Four Wheelers/ Gravelrama and he was previously a reserve soccer coach for South Dearborn High School. John loved spending time outside in his yard and meticulously tending to his lawn. He was also an avid NASCAR fan, including being a collector of Jeff Gordon memorabilia, which he proudly had on display throughout his home. John was a devoted family man who served as a father figure not only to his own sons, but also to generations of nieces and nephews.

John was a devoted and loving husband to Cliffie for 50 years. From the moment they met, John was persistent in winning her heart, and after dating for some time, the two were married and began building a beautiful life together. They shared countless cherished memories through the years- vacationing in Hawaii, the sand dunes of Michigan, Myrtle Beach, and the Caribbean, raising their sons, and lovingly spoiling their grandchildren. After starting their family, John and Cliffie moved to Moores Hill, where they created the perfect gathering place for family and friends. Their home was always buzzing with laughter, conversation, and togetherness. Having a full house brought John immense joy, and nothing meant more to him than being surrounded by the people he loved the most.

John will be missed by his sons John (Melissa) Ryan of Wisconsin, Nakia Scruggs of Moores Hill, and Leo Scruggs of Moores Hill: siblings Richard (Brenda) Ryan of Cincinnati, Patrick Ryan of Cincinnati, Judy (Gary) Maness of Cincinnati, and Roger (Darlene) Ryan of Cold Springs, Kentucky; grandchildren Amaryllis and Cheyenne Ryan; and Mother-in-law Joyce Adams of Moores Hill.

John was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Edna Ryan, his brother Dennis Ryan, and his brother and sister-in-law Michael and Donna Ryan.

The family is planning a celebration of life that will be scheduled at a later date. Details will be shared once arrangements have been finalized. Memorials may be given in honor of John to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

      To my loving husband,

When I think of all the happy times that I have shared with you. All the memories we have made together. Every dream we have wished that we’ve seen come true. All the special moments that are ours and ours alone. I know that our years together are the best ones I have ever known. Happy 51st Anniversary! (5/24/26)

Love you always, Cliffie.
