Joe Grote

Joe Grote, 83 years old of Yorkville, passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2023. A devoted husband to Gerry, his wife of 32 years, Joe passed away only 5 weeks after her death. Knowing how much he loved Gerry, friends and family agree Joe’s passing was undoubtedly of a broken heart with the desire to be reunited with his love. From childhood through adulthood, Joe lived on a farm and raised cattle. He had the ability to bring a smile to anyone’s face and had a laugh that was distinctly Joe. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and attended the ever-popular Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Joe & Gerry liked to travel and were fortunate to explore Hawaii, Alaska, Rome, and take multiple cruises. Joe drove a tank while in the Army National Guard and upon his return home became a member of the North Dearborn American Legion Post 452. He was a proud participant of the Legion’s Honor Guard and a member of All Saints Parish.

Joe will be deeply missed by his children Richard (Nancy) Grote, Jeff (Jennifer) Grote, and Michelle (David) Walker, granddaughter Madison Walker, and brother Aloysius (Judy) Grote. He is preceded in death by his wife Gerry, brother Carl Grote, and parents Elizabeth & August Grote.
