Jobless rates fell in all four area counties in August

Southeastern IN — The Indiana Department of Workforce Development (DWD) says unemployment rates for all four Southeastern Indiana counties went down during the month of August.

Decatur County had the lowest jobless rate in the area at 2.4 percent, which was down from 2.8 percent the month before.

Franklin County was at 2.5 percent, compared to 3 percent in July.

Dearborn County checked in at 2.6 percent, which was a drop from 3.1 percent.

And Ripley County was at 2.7 percent, down from July’s 3.4 percent.

Indiana’s overall jobless rate in August was 2.8 percent compared to 3.5 percent in July.
