Joan Nau – Brookville

Joan Sabina Nau, of Cincinnati and formerly of Brookville, was born in Akron, Ohio on February 13, 1923, daughter of Arthur Stanley and Joanna McDonald Wilson, she was the eldest of four children:  Anne Wilson, Mary Wilson (Booth) and Jack Wilson, who have predeceased her.

 

She married Robert (Bob) Nau on June 26, 1948 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Akron and they recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. They moved to Brookville in 1968, living there until 1981 and then returning after Bob’s retirement in 1996. Joan and Bob later moved to Cincinnati.

 

Joan and Bob have five children:  Mary Anne Harris (Patrick), Jim Nau (Cindy), Don Nau (Melinda), Joanne Sawyer (Bruce), and Teri Nau.  She has four grandchildren:  Kelly Trotter, Derek Sawyer, Katy Sawyer and David Nau plus one great grandchild, Jack Trotter and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Joan was an active member of St. Paul’s (Akron), St. Michael’s and the Daughters of Isabella (Brookville), and the Tri-Kappa in Brookville.  An avid golfer, friend and neighbor to all for she never met a stranger. Joan always had a special place in her heart for children and loved making them laugh.

 

Friends may visit with the family on Friday, September 21, 2018 from 4 until 7 p.m. at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home, 929 Main Street, Brookville.  A Mass of Christian burial, officiated by Rev. Vincent Lampert will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church.  Private burial will follow in the church cemetery.
