There were plenty of sectional softball and baseball games taking place Wednesday… and some of the best, you heard on WRBI.
After a few lengthy weather delays due to thunderstorms, Milan’s Indians and the Hauser Jets finally reached a Class 2A softball decision a bit after midnight. Milan scoring late, but the Jets taking the game, 2-1. Hauser moves into the sectional championship game, facing Brownstown Central, who’d eliminated South Ripley, 12-0. The Indians conclude their season with 19 wins, 13 losses, while Hauser moves on at 20 & 8. South Ripley finishes at 6 wins, 15 losses.
In single-A sectional 60 softball, the championship game today will have North Decatur taking on Jac-Cen-Del. In 3A at Rushville, sectional 29 had Franklin County’s Wildcats beating the homestanding Lions, 4-2. Franklin County plays Connersville for the sectional title tomorrow. And in 4A at Columbus East, it’ll be East Central facing Whiteland for the championship tonight.
The boys sectionals just opened Wednesday, and in single-a Sectional 60 at Jac-Cen-Del, the home team the Eagles were knocked out by Waldron, 4-1. South Decatur eliminated Oldenburg Academy by the same score, in a game heard here on WRBI. South Decatur faces Waldron and North Decatur, which had a bye, goes up against Southwestern Shelby Monday.
2A sectional 45 at South Ripley had Milan topping Brown County 6-1, and Hauser getting by South Ripley 7-6. Milan will face Hauser Monday. And in 4A at Shelbyville, East Central topped Whiteland 9-7, while Franklin Community beat Columbus North 5-3. North and East Central take each other on in the semis tomorrow night.
Action on tap tonight on WRBI will be the Sectional 60 softball title game between Jac-Cen-Del and North Decatur, the broadcast beginning at 5:45. Immediately after that, we’ll have the baseball matchup of Batesville and Lawrenceburg. Again it all starts at 5:45, on the Sports Voice, 103.9 FM, WRBI.
