Tuesday was a big one for basketball, and we were glad to bring you a huge, exciting boys’ game live on WRBI.  In what the coaches told us was one of the very few times the schools had ever faced each other, the match went to overtime, and in literally the final second of the extra period, Jac-Cen-Del’s Caleb White sank what turned out to be the winning bucket — the Eagles just getting by Franklin County in Brookville, 44 to 42.  In junior varsity play, Jac-Cen-Del’s boys beat Franklin County by a bigger margin, 49 to 35.

Last night’s girls’ scores included South Decatur topping Edinburgh 46 to 19… Lawrenceburg getting by East Central 37 to 33… South Ripley knocking off South Dearborn 51 to 40…  Jac-Cen-Del hammered Switzerland County 62 to 30, and Warren Central narrowly defeated Greensburg, 60 to 56.

Action on the way on the courts tonight will include the Oldenburg Academy girls hosting Purdue Poly Englewood, and the boys’ game we’ll bring you–  7 & 7 South Dearborn hosting 7 & 7 East Central.  Join Rob Moorhead and Steve Giesting for the contest, our coverage begins at about 7:15 with the tipoff at 7:30, on 103.9 FM, WRBIradio.com, and the WRBI App.

Looking at some of the potential stars of tomorrow in the middle schools, the SEI tournament at South Dearborn saw Jac-Cen-Del get by Batesville by 5 in one 8th-grade boys’ semi-final.  JCD will play Greendale in that tourney’s championship game, after the 7th-grade title match between Greendale and Batesville tomorrow evening.  The 7th-grade Bulldogs knocked off St. Louis 40 to 16 to make it into that championship contest.

Men’s college basketball saw the 2nd-ranked Boilermakers of Purdue winning big at Assembly Hall, downing IU’s Hoosiers 87 to 66 last night.  Also, UC needed overtime to do it but knocked off another ranked opponent, Number 19 TCU, 81 to 77.  Xavier had little trouble with Butler, 85 to 71…  Ball State dropped Eastern Michigan 76 to 62, and Indiana State beat Missouri State, 88 to 66.
