The boys’ high school basketball sectionals are underway, and you got Tuesday’s opening action on WRBI.  We brought you the very exciting North Decatur/Milan contest, where the Milan Indians got off to a hot start, and led 30-20 at halftime.  But the Chargers battled back, so strongly that the game was tied at 43 after the 3rd quarter, and North Decatur was then on its way, the Chargers eventually winning 62-57.  That means Friday, North Decatur will face Switzerland County.  Greensburg managed to top Rushville in what started as a very low-scoring contest, only 5- nothing after the first quarter.  But things picked up, and the Pirates eventually topped the Lions, 43-27.  The win sends Greensburg into a Friday matchup on their home floor, against Lawrenceburg.

More action on tap tonight in the sectionals, where Franklin County takes on Connersville, and South Decatur faces Edinburgh.  We’ll have a double-header for you on WRBI, opening at 6:00 when Jac-Cen-Del plays Waldron, then at 7:30 it’s Batesville against EIAC rival South Dearborn.  Extended pre-game coverage comes your way beginning in the 5:00 hour, on the Sports Voice 103.9 FM, as well as at WRBIRadio.com, and on the new WRBI app.

Cactus League baseball Tuesday, where in spring training they don’t do extra innings, wound up in a tie–  the Reds and the Cubs ending up 6-6.  Cincinnati takes a break today, but they’ll be back on the spring diamond tomorrow night, facing the Dodgers.  First pitch, 8:05 Thursday evening.

In men’s college basketball, UC’s Bearcats had to be the first to test the Houston Cougars’ new Number 1 ranking, and though it was fairly close at only 8 points, Houston still prevailed, 67-59.  Also last night, the Hoosiers edged Wisconsin, 74-70.  Ball State evened its record at 14 wins, 14 losses, topping Central Michigan 79-71.  Tonight, Indiana State visits Evansville, Butler hosts St. John’s, and DePaul drops in on Xavier.

Tonight in the NBA–  after dropping a decision to the Raptors by 8 Monday, the Pacers are back on court at Gainbridge hosting the Pelicans.  Tomorrow night, the 2 squads will square off again in New Orleans.
