Cactus League spring training baseball Monday had the Seattle Mariners shutting out one of Cincinnati’s split squads at Goodyear, Arizona, 2-0.  In the other game, the rest of the Reds took care of business, though, topping the Brewers, 8-3.  This afternoon, the Reds take on the Cubs, with pregame coverage on 103.9 WRBI beginning at 2:50.

The Reds also remind you this week’s your last chance to guarantee access to opening day tickets at Great American with a season-ticket membership.  They’ll have a special event at the ballpark Friday where you can choose your seats, even sit in them just to be sure.  Learn more and make a reservation, at www.reds.com.

We’re starting to strongly focus on boys’ high school basketball at WRBI, as sectional competition begins tonight!  We’ll open at South Ripley High, where North Decatur’s taking on Milan.  Our post-season pre-game coverage starts at 6:00.

Tomorrow night, it’s a double-header, beginning with Jac-Cen-Del facing Waldron at Edinburgh, followed by Batesville against South Dearborn, in Greensburg.  The Wednesday broadcast will begin just after 5:00, here on WRBIRadio.com, at 103.9 FM, and on the new WRBI app.

Wrestler Mason Parris of Lawrenceburg continues to impress the globe, on Team USA.  Mason now competes in the 125-kilogram class, around 275 pounds.  He captured a gold medal over the weekend, in Acapulco, Mexico.  Parris shut out his initial opponent, Canadian Richard Deschatelets, 10-0.  That set Parris up for the title!  The team dominated throughout the finals, going 10 for 10, the Americans racking up a perfect score of 250 points, with Mason and 6 of his USA teammates all earning gold.

From the stars of tomorrow, 8th-grade girls’ basketball had South Decatur beating North Decatur 29 to 24… and the 6th-grade girls of St. Louis School lost a tough one to St. Nicholas 26 to 5.  The Cardinals have a home game set for this afternoon.

Men’s college hoops has a new national Number 1 team, the Houston Cougars, followed by Purdue’s Boilermakers back up to 2nd.  Former top dog Connecticut dropped to Number 3, after getting shocked by new Number 12, Creighton.  Action tonight has UC visiting Number 1 Houston, Ball State going to Central Michigan, and IU’s Hoosiers hosting Wisconsin.

In the NBA last night, the Pacers lost at home to the Raptors, 130-122.
