The last couple games of the regular boys’ high school basketball season are coming up tonight and tomorrow…  then starting next Tuesday, it’ll be tournament time!

This evening on WRBI, we’ll bring you the Batesville Bulldogs’ finale of the regular schedule, as they visit Shelbyville.  The Golden Bears will be playing for a second straight night, having lost Wednesday to Delta, 51 to 42.  Join Terrance Arney and me for the coverage, beginning around 7:15, the tipoff at 7:30, here at WRBIRadio dot com, on the Sports Voice 103.9 FM, and on the new WRBI app.  Tomorrow night, we’ll have Jac-Cen-Del and South Ripley for you.

Also on the scoreboard from last night, Lawrenceburg knocked off South Dearborn, 46 to 28.

Spring training continues in major league baseball, and MLB dot com has an interesting article on which pitchers might be able to strike the most batters out this year. Reds right-hander Hunter Greene is rated one of the “dark horses” to get that done. With a nearly 31% strikeout rate over his career, analysts say that kind of number could put Greene into the elite company of those who strike out as many as 200 batters a season. Here’s a wild number for you– since starting his major league career 2 years ago, Greene’s thrown 54 strikeouts at more than a hundred miles an hour, 3 TIMES as many as any other starter in the majors over those 2 seasons. Keep Hunter on your radar. The Reds’ first spring training game against the Guardians in Arizona is already coming up, this Saturday.

And the Reds say if you want to guarantee your access to opening day tickets next month at Great American Ballpark, you can test-drive ‘em in person at the stadium a week from Friday on the first of March, 2:30 to 6:30, and you can get a special photo taken in the dugout or on the warning track.  Learn more and RSVP online, at Reds dot com!

More performance from our stars of tomorrow…  a junior high swim meet earlier this week had South Ripley going to Jennings County to take on Switzerland County and Milan.  The Raiders’ 400-yard freestyle relay team of Aubrey Henry, Zoey Meisberger, and Molly & Ashlyn DeWire won that race by a slight 8 one-hundredths of a second!!  Congrats to them on barely touching that wall first!  Wow!!

Wednesday night men’s college basketball had UC’s Bearcats getting narrowly beaten by the Oklahoma State Cowboys 80-76…  Nebraska rolling into Bloomington to hand the Hoosiers a 3rd straight loss, 85-70… Ball State’s Cards beating Northern Illinois on the road, 70-63… Indiana State easily topping Valparaiso on the road 83-64… Notre Dame belting Louisville 72-50… and Providence getting by Xavier, 79-75.  Tonight, Number 3 Purdue gets a visit from Rutgers.

And after hosting the NBA All-Stars last weekend, the Pacers pick up their regular season tonight, hosting the Detroit Pistons.
