Jim’s Journal, April 12th, 2024

On this soggy Friday afternoon/evening, we’ve got some more weather-related info to pass along to you.  Rain’s stopped in some places, but could be continuing in others–  it’s been a pretty wet week across southeastern Indiana.  So again, we’ve been in touch with all our high schools to check in on which activities are still happening, and which aren’t.

A varsity track meet at Knightstown that several local schools are taking part in, is still going on today.  So is tomorrow’s Madison track meet, where South Dearborn’s planning to participate.

North Decatur says both its varsity softball and baseball games planned at Hauser today have been postponed and rescheduled. Softball will play a pair at Hauser on the 24th of this month to get today’s game in.  Baseball will get made up in a home doubleheader for the Chargers on May 4th.

East Central’s playing its 5:30 baseball game against Batesville this evening…  the Trojans’ field is artificial turf, so it drains the water right off, with no mud.  And EC’s also sending its varsity track teams to compete in a meet at Harrison, Ohio.

Greensburg baseball is playing at Jennings County this evening, the varsity at 5:00, JV’s after that,  around 7.  Also, Pirate tennis is playing in Connersville at 5:30 tonight.  A golf duel against Connersville is also teeing off at Greensburg today, but a golf match tomorrow with Jennings County has been cancelled.

Oldenburg Academy says both its baseball and girls’ tennis contests tomorrow have been cancelled.  Milan girls’ tennis at Shawe Memorial is cancelled for today, but Indian softball is playing, against unbeaten Rising Sun.

South Dearborn tells us the first softball pitch in its game against Connersville will be delivered at noon Saturday, and that’s now a Knights home game, but tomorrow’s South Dearborn baseball has been cancelled.

South Decatur had baseball and softball games lined up against Edinburgh today, but those are both cancelled.

Jac-Cen-Del says it’s got baseball to be played tonight at 5:00 at Lawrenceburg–  artificial turf to the rescue again–  and the Eagles will play softball tomorrow morning at 11:00 against New Washington.

Remember after battling the rain at home a couple times this week, the Reds are now on the road in Chicago for 3 games, then heading to Seattle for 3.  Tonight we’ll have the 1st game between Cincinnati and the White Sox for you, the broadcast beginning at 7:10, only on the radio on the Sports Voice, 103.9 FM, WRBI.

In the NBA tonight, the Pacers visit the Cavaliers in Cleveland.
