Just as rain picked up around here Wednesday afternoon, it did in Cincinnati, too.   After a couple hours hoping the drops would move along and let the Reds baseball game against the Brewers be played, it looked like the contest wasn’t to be–  we even went back to playing some country favorites.  But the rain did finally let up enough, and the teams got things underway a bit after 8 last night.

The Brewers jumped out to an early lead, in the top of the 1st with a man on 1st base.  Milwaukee’s Christian Yelich homered off Reds pitcher Hunter Greene, and with only 1 out, the Brew Crew was suddenly up 2-0, and the Reds couldn’t do a lot to catch up all night.  The score built to 6-0 before the Reds started tallying, but they never really got started.  The final, Brewers 7, Reds 2.  Cincinnati needs to win today to earn a split in the 4-game series.  It’ll be a midday start on this getaway day, as the Reds head to Chicago for a series with the White Sox.  The broadcast comes your way at 12:40 this afternoon, only on the Sports Voice, 103.9 FM, WRBI.

Right around here, if things clear up and dry out enough, the high schools will try to get some games  in too, after everyone getting rained out 2 of the last 3 days.  Batesville softball hopes to bounce back after 4 straight losses at Franklin County this evening… unbeaten Greensburg goes to Jennings County…  Jac-Cen-Del should be at Lawrenceburg…  South Dearborn’s hosting East Central…  Oldenburg Academy’s still looking for its first win, and will go seeking it early, with the first pitch set for noon today at Trinity Lutheran.  South Decatur’s planning to be at winless Edinburgh, and after officially postponing their Wednesday home game against Rushville, North Decatur looks to host Hauser today.

Baseball’s also looking for things to get dry, with Greensburg ready to rematch their Tuesday win over Rushville, this time on the Lions’ home field.  North Decatur will host Hauser today at the same time the girls do.  South Decatur’s boys go with the girls, to Edinburgh… Franklin County hosts Connersville… Batesville’s at East Central… and South Dearborn will be hosting Lawrenceburg.

Remember in the NBA, the Pacers get a couple days off after their 140-123 win over the Raptors in Toronto–  they’ll go after the Cavaliers in Cleveland tomorrow night.
