Gerald “Jerry”, “Nails” Smith, 69, of Vevay passed away at 4:47am Monday, February 27, 2017 at the Hospice of Cincinnati in Hamilton, Ohio. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on August 16, 1947 the son of Edward and Ruth White Smith. Survivors include one nephew, Scott (Rachael) Smith of Gainesville, Florida, Cousin; Pam (Frank) Rose of West Chester, Ohio, and one brother, James Smith of Gainesville, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Smith was a 1966 graduate of Quarter Tech High School in Cincinnati. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War where served his country. Mr. Smith received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. In civilian life Jerry was a self-employed carpet installer. Jerry was a member of the Versailles and Osgood American Legion. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 2nd, at noon, at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Don Hooker officiating. Visitation will be from 10am until time of services. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati. Memorials may be given to Versailles or Osgood American Legion or Hospice in care of the funeral home.
