Jerry Frank McGuire Jr. 57, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2024. Surrounded by family, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He saw the light and went to the beautiful reunion prepared for him. He is now healed and pain free.
Born February 27, 1967, the son of Jerry F and Dianna (Shoemake) McGuire. Jerry was a lifelong resident of Greensburg. He worked many jobs in his lifetime, the longest being over 28 years as an electrician. His most enjoyable was as a poker dealer. He had a dream of making it to the Poker World Series.
His favorite pastime was sitting around a poker table. He could grow a beautiful garden. He enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandkids. He was always joking and kidding around with family and friends. He never met a stranger. He had a memory like an elephant. He will be missed by so many.
He married Lori Haney in 1999, who survives him along with his children: Michelle (Jonathon) Dickson, Justin McGuire, Melissa (Chris) Slavey, September McGuire, and Jennifer McGuire. He was the proud grandfather to 11 grandchildren: Brayden, MacKenzie, Ian, Desirae, Jayden, Madelynn, Tucker, Allie, Waylen, Daylen, and Reagan. Jerry is also survived by his sister Kimberly (Brian) England, sister-in-law Ruth Mann, brother-in-law Louis Minch, niece Dianna (Nicole) McGuire, nephew Jeremy McGuire, and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, several aunts and uncles, and his nephew Vance McGuire.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM at the funeral home, with burial at Union Baptist Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
