(Jefferson County, IN) – Detectives from the Indiana State Police-Versailles Post arrested a Madison man on felony child molestation and child exploitation charges on New Year’s Eve (Sunday).

The investigation began earlier that day when someone contacted ISP after discovering 37-year-old Waylon J. Schlichtkrull allegedly committed the crimes.

Troopers say detectives were able to conduct a quick and thorough investigation that included a search warrant of a rural Jefferson County address on the same day.

ISP says the investigation indicated that he had engaged in sexual contact with a juvenile female on multiple occasions in Jefferson County.

Schlichtkrull was soon spotted driving a vehicle in the area, and a traffic stop resulted in his arrest without incident.

He was arrested on preliminary charges of Child Molestation (Level 1 felony), and Child Exploitation (Level 5 felony) and is being held in the Jefferson County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing.

ISP detectives received assistance from Jefferson and Switzerland County sheriff’s deputies.
