Janice K. Carlson, age 54 of Ft. Myers Beach, Florida, died Tuesday, March 14, 2017 in Ft. Myers. Born April 6, 1962 in Batesville, she is the daughter of Rita Jane (Nee: Gehring) and Norman “Pete” Wanstrath. She married Terry Carlson August 4, 1990 at St. Louis Church in Batesville. She was a realtor for Coldwell Bankers.
With Terry’s job, he and Jan lived in many cities throughout the Midwest and on the East Coast prior to moving to Ft. Myers Beach. She made wonderful friends wherever she went. A graduate of Indiana University, no matter where she lived, she continued to followed I.U. basketball. Jan was also an avid tennis fan and enjoyed playing as well. Winston, a white lab, was her baby, whom she dearly loved.
She is survived by her husband Terry; sisters Lu Ann (John) Zeszut of Cincinnati, Ohio, Julie (Bob) Jackson of Dayton, Ohio; brothers Ken (Debbie), Randy (Carolyn), Russ (Jama) and Jim Wanstrath, all of Batesville; mother and father-in-law Jan and Elden Carlson of Appleton, Wisconsin; sister-in-law Tammy (Brent) Schuettpelz of Appleton, Wisconsin; brother-in-law Todd Carlson of Toledo, Ohio; 17 nieces and nephews and 14 great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother Glenn Wanstrath.
Jan’s wishes were to be cremated. The family will receive friends Monday, March 20th from 9 – 10:30 a.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home. A memorial mass follows at 11 a.m. at St. Louis Church and burial in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to the Colon Cancer Alliance, Phi Beta Psi Sorority Cancer Research or the cancer organization of your choice in memory of Jan.
