Janet Marie Hughes, 87 of Greensburg

Janet Marie Hughes, 87, of Greensburg, passed away at 10:56 a.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at the Willows of Greensburg. She was born on September 20, 1938, in Greensburg, the daughter of Harrison and Vivian (Boicourt) Tower. She was a resident of Ripley and Decatur Counties all her life. She was a 1956 graduate of Sandcreek High School and was a member of the Westport Baptist Church. Janet married Harold Leon Hughes on June 3, 1960, in Westport. He preceded her in death on December 12, 2021. She is survived by her daughter, Teresa (Steve) Ruggles of Greensburg; her grandsons, Zacheriah (Allison) Ruggles of Greensburg and Trent Ruggles of Osgood; her great grandchildren, Briztol Ruggles, Augustus Woodson, Harper Ruggles and Hoyt Ruggles. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; her sister, Helen Amy; her brothers, Floyd “Happy” Tower and John Tower, along with two infant sisters. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, May 18, 2026, at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Pastor Malvin McCullough officiating. Burial will follow at Westport Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held on Monday, May 18, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
