James Jules Maple, 92, of Greensburg passed away on October 29, 2023. He was born on October 9, 1931 in Greensburg, Indiana, the son of Earl and Dora (Freeland) Maple. James was a 1949 graduate of Batesville High School. He married Janet Louise Parmer on November 24, 1955 at the Methodist Church in Batesville and together they had two children, Steven and Sheryl. James was a member of the Greensburg United Methodist Church and the Greensburg Masonic Lodge. He was a quality engineer at Bohn Aluminum for 37 years in Greensburg. James was a United States Army Veteran, serving in the Korean War.
Survivors include: Children, Steven (Diane) Maple and Sheryl (Curt) Hackney; Grandchildren, Jenni Rice, Amy Maple, Katie Hackney, and Cameron Hackney; Sister in Laws, Doris Ann Fields and Renate Wolferst; and Brother in Law, Richard Parmer. He was preceded in death by his Parents; Wife; Twin Brother, Jack E. Maple; Brothers, Sharon “Butch” Wolferst and Dale Maple; Sisters, Dorothy Strahn, Faye Bohman, Rita Welter, and Cherry Jo Lamping.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2023 from 11:30 am until the time of the funeral at 1:00 pm, at the Greensburg United Methodist Church. Rev. Chris Stevens will be officiating. Burial will follow at the Rossburg Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the American Heart Association.
