James “Jimmy” C. Slayback Jr. age 68 of Sunman, known by many as Uncle Jim, passed away, Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at Margaret Mary Health. He was born October 25, 1953, in Milan, a son to James Sr. and Hazel (Foutch) Slayback. Jimmy was a member of St. Paul Methodist Church.
Jimmy enjoyed blue grass music, fishing, and coon hunting. He always had a special touch when it came to coon dogs. Jimmy was always a smiling face that everyone would look for as they drove through Sunman. You would always see Jimmy sitting in front of IGA eating his fried chicken with a bottle of Dr. Pepper. He would always throw a hand up and wave at all the regulars and strangers that passed bye. Jimmy was willing to help anyone and sacrificed so much in his life to help family and friends. In the evening you could catch up with him at Sunman Landing where he was like family to everyone. Play one of his favorite blue grass songs, and watch out, he would out dance them all.
Jimmy is survived by four sisters, Diana King of Batesville, Joyce Davidson of Sunman, Paulette (Jerry) Shoemaker of Brookville and Darlene (Nathan) Owens of Batesville. Jimmy was a proud uncle, great uncle, and great-great uncle. He will be missed dearly by many friends. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents and brother Rick Slayback.
