James Clifford Hutson Jr., 55, of Columbus, died at 5:01 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Our Hospice of South-Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. He was born in Lawrenceburg, IN, on July 22, 1968 to James Clifford Hutson Sr. and Norma “Cookie” Woods Hutson. He married Mary Reeves on January 3, 1997.
Jim was a graduate of Batesville High School and was Vice President of Good Shepherd Radio and CMA/Wheels of Faith. He received the Singing News Golden Mic Award and was a proud member of Parkside Baptist Church. Jim was the world’s greatest Papaw, an avid Harley rider, and his life mission was spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ in song.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, January 12, 2024 at Parkside Baptist Church, 1780 Rocky Ford Road, Columbus, IN 47203, with Dr. Rick Hillard officiating. Calling hours will be from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday at Parkside Baptist Church and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home to help with expenses.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Hutson; mother, Norma “Cookie” Hutson; children, Robert (Lindsey) Hutson Sr. of Hope, IN, M. Thomas (Rebecca) Hutson of Columbus, IN, Matthew Hutson of Edinburgh, IN, and Alex (Caitlin) Hutson of Nashville, TN; brother, Bryan (Yvonne) Hutson of Cincinnati, OH, grandchildren, Kaylynn Alice, Molly Lou, Robert David Jr., Carson Patrick and Cameron James.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Clifford Hutson Sr.
