Jack Grunkemeyer throws shutout for Batesville in 10-run defeat of South Dearborn

Jack Grunkemeyer threw a gem on Thursday for Batesville varsity baseball, striking out eight and allowing zero runs in a 10-0 win over South Dearborn.

The Bulldogs biggest inning was in the fourth when they scored four runs. Those runs were scored on a single by Grunkemeyer, a sac fly by Eli Loichinger, and a double by Charlie Schebler.

Batesville finished with 14 hits on the day. Max Baumer, Schebler, Loichinger, and Grunkemeyer each collected multiple hits for the team. Baumer went 4-for-4 in the win.

One bright spot for the Knights was a single by Hunter Gates in the fifth inning.

Ryan Willoughby toed the rubber for the South Dearborn in the loss. The hurler went three innings, allowing four runs on seven hits and striking out two. Clay Gentry and Max Burger entered the game from the bullpen, throwing one and a third innings and one inning, respectively.
