Shawe volleyball won a three-set match at Jac-Cen-Del Monday: 25-16, 26-15 and 27-25.
“While Shawe ran away with the first two sets, the Lady Eagles came back to lose a close third set, 27-25,” said Jac-Cen-Del coach Cat Schmeltz. “We really struggled to play our game. We were caught off guard in a lot of areas and played extremely slow. We came back and played a close third set but were not able to finish to keep the match alive. We have a lot of positive pieces but are struggling to put it all together. The kids continue to work hard, and we look forward to continued improvement as the season goes on.”

The Hilltoppers also won the JV match 2-1 by finals of 25-23, 22-25 and 15-12.
“Shawe has some good hitters, but nothing we can’t defend,” said JCD assistant coach Paige Simon. “Our girls had to adapt to a shift to help cover those harder hit locations against the Lady Hilltoppers. Just like most games, adjusting can be challenging. But how we fight through those on-the-spot changes are what makes us a more dynamic team to play against. We definitely have some defensive covering and positioning to work on.”
