Jac-Cen-Del drops home volleyball match to Southwestern

Fast starts in sets by Southwestern led the Lady Rebels past Jac-Cen-Del in Thursday’s ORVC volleyball match 3-1: 25-11, 19-25, 26-24, 25-22.

“We played strong for most of the match,” said Southwestern coach Chris Johnson.  “Our offense was very clean and ran well with Naylor and Ford leading the way. We needed greater consistency with our serving and defense but it was a good conference win for us.”

Southwestern is 6-3 overall and 1-0 in the ORVC.

“After an extremely slow start in the first set, Jac- Cen-Del fought back to win the second set,” said Jac-Cen-Del coach Cat Schmeltz.  “In a close third and fourth set, Southwestern was able to leave Osgood with the win.  We continue to struggle to stay consistent with our play. We have played a lot of games in the first four weeks with little time for practice. It is my hope, as we are able to get some additional practice time, it will help us gain consistency.  After the first set when we woke up, we played some phenomenal volleyball. But with the slow start to sets, it was too much to come all the way back from. We continue to see progress in overall play which is positive and something we continue to build on.”
