J.H. track recaps from May 2 and 3; Batesville sweeps junior high county meets

The following are junior high track recaps from Monday, May 2 and Tuesday, May 3.   There may be updates, so please check back.

The Ripley County Junior High Track Championships were held at Jac-Cen-Del.  Batesville topped Milan 87-54 to claim the boys title while the Lady Bulldogs bested the Lady Raiders 97-42 to win the girls.

Girls team scores: 1) Batesville 97, 2) South Ripley 42, 3) Milan 29 and 4) Jac-Cen-Del 13.

Boys team scores: 1) Batesville 87, 2) Milan 54, 3) Jac-Cen-Del 32 and 4) South Ripley 11.

Individual winners included:

Batesville- three by Paige Allgeier, two from Mimi Smith, Ella King, Dylan Comer and Cannon Clark and one each by Katherine Lipps, Katelynn Fullenkamp and Liam Stutz.

Milan- three by Gabe Riehle and one each by Emma Voss and Josh Pettit.

Jac-Cen-Del- one from Berkely Williams.

Batesville won all four relays.

St. Louis, North Decatur and Southwestern Shelby got together for a tri meet.  The Lady Cardinals topped the Lady Chargers 57-45 to win the girls event while the Spartans edged the Chargers 48-40 to claim the boys meet.

St. Louis winners included two each from Belle Young and Griffin Koester plus one apiece by Rachel Suttman, Haley Frey and Maggie Tekulve.  The Lady Cardinals won both relays.

North Decatur winners included two-time victor Eli Weisenbach, Sarah Moeller, Sophie Rohls and their boys 1600 relay team.  (More information follows the recaps.)

Unedited reports from coaches…

St. Louis’ Jason Frey-  St. Louis Catholic School competed in a tri-meet against Southwestern, and North Decatur on 5/02/2022. St. Louis boys finished third with 36 points vs. North Decatur 40 points, and Southwestern 48 points. Cayden set a new personal record in discus with a throw of 95 feet earning first place. Ethan Rahschulte came in second with a new personal record in discus with 61′ 3″.

Griffin Koester earned first in the mile with a personal record of 5:19, and first place in the 400 meter dash with a time of 64.25 seconds. Carson Hartwell earned second in the 800 meter race with 2:41 a personal record.

St. Louis girls finished first with a score of 57 points vs. 45 points North Decatur vs. 26 points Southwestern. Rachel Suttman placed first in discus with a 78’1″ throw. Felicity Brelage finished second with a throw of 59′ 5″. Rachel Suttman was second in shot put with a throw of 25’6″.

Belle Young finished second in hurdles with a time of 19.43 seconds. Belle Young finished first in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.94 seconds. Haley Frey finished first in the mile with a time of 6:35. The 4×100 meter relay team finished first with a time of 59.13 seconds consisting of Rachel Suttman, Ava Becker, Maggie Tekulve, and Felicity Brelage. Belle Young finished first in the 400 meter with a time of 70.19 seconds.

Maggie Tekulve was first in the 800 meter run with a time of 3:02.03 seconds, Haley Frey was second in the 800 meter with 3:02.84 seconds. Girls 4×400 meter finished first with a time of 4:59.59 seconds consisting of Rachel Suttman, Sophia Hohenstein, Belle Young, and Felicity Brelage.

North Decatur’s Destiny Brown- A great night with great weather for the NDHS JH Charger Boys.

Starting with Hurdles, Eli Weisenbach finished 1st with a time of 18.65s. Jaxson Clark finished 2nd and Henry Kinker in 4th with a new PR of 22.55s! Branden McBride taking 2nd place in the 100M dash at 12.8s, and 2nd in the 200M Dash (29.24s). The 4×100 M Relay (Henry Kinker, Jaxson Clark, Simon Barber, and Branden McBride) set a new PR of 56.6s! Moving on to the 400M Run, Simon Barber placed 2nd with a time of 1:07 and setting a new PR! Conner Goolsby placed 3rd in the 800M Run with a PR of 2:41. In the 4x400M Relay (Eli Weisenbach, Kipton Ruf, Henry Kinker, and Conner Goolsby) ND took 1st place and set an amazing new PR of 4:42 (18 second cut!). In Long Jump Eli took 1st (14’6″), Branden took 2nd (13’3″), and Kipton with 4th (11’9″). Clayton Ruf placed 3rd in his high jump at 4’0″. Tyler Stephen set a new PR in Shot Put with 31’5.5″ and took 2nd place, and Nolan also places 4th with 29’0″. Lastly, in Disc Nolan took 2nd place at 58’10”.

North Decatur’s Breanna Morris- The North Decatur Junior High girls track team had an outstanding night on Monday. They placed second to St. Louis, beating Soutwestern. Some highlights from the meet were:

  • Our 1600 meter relay team got second place with a time of 5:33. The team consisted of Olivia Reisman, Sara Litmer, Mary Stier, and Sarah Moeller.
  • Sarah Moeller placed 1st in hurdles, 2nd in the 1600 meter run, and second place in the high jump.
  • Ava Lecher placed 4th in the hurdles, 2nd in the 400 meter dash, and 3rd in the 800 meter run.
  • Sophie Rohls placed 1st in the high jump with a new PR of 4’5” and 2nd in the long jump.
  • Layla Fellows placed 3rd in the 100 meter dash.
  • Mary Stier placed 3rd in the 1600 meter run and 2rd in the 200 meter dash.
  • Norah Amberger placed 4th in the 1600 meter run.
  • Jessie Biltz placed 4th in the 800 meter run.
  • Olivia Reisman placed 4th in the 400 meter dash.
  • Cloie Lewis placed 3rd in long jump.Ellie Metz placed 4th in discus.
  • Sara Litmer placed 3rd in shot put.
