JC ‘Pete’ Privett Jr., 87, of Aurora, IN passed away peacefully in the morning hours of July 30th, 2024 at St. Elizabeth Hospice Center in Edgewood, KY. Pete is preceded in death by his beloved wife Sandra Lynn (Schneider); parents JC Privett, Rachel Rice, step-father Elmer Rice; siblings James ‘Bud’ Privett, Duane ‘Pinky’ Privett, Elizabeth Plumley and brothers in-law John Schneider & Ronald Bien; children David Privett, Elmer Privett, and JC ‘Jay’ Privett Ill; son-in-law George Stauber and grandchild Noah Lewis.
Born in Blytheville, AR on March 23, 1937. Pete was brought up with 8 siblings. He joined the Marines at 17 years old, serving his country for 22 years. Upon exiting the military, he started and ran his own electronic manufacturing company until retirement. Pete’s legacy lives on in part through his artistic creations. Countless people throughout the Tri-State area and beyond display his “Flying Geese” in their trees and porches. Pete’s creative side was a joy he shared with his late wife, Sandra Lynn, and she would help paint the beautiful birds he carved. Many of their dearest friends were met on the local craft-show circuit.
Above all, Pete treasured his family. He worked hard to never miss a family reunion or any opportunity to visit or speak with his siblings and family across the country. He was known in his community as someone who was quick to pitch-in to solve a problem and would happily complete handy-man tasks for any family and friends. Pete loved swapping stories and could make a quick friend out of just about any stranger. His big smile, quick laugh, and impeccable whistling talent will be dearly missed. He was our “Superman” as known and cherished by many family members.
Pete will be remembered in life by: his siblings Billy Privett, Patty Samp, Peggy Gage, Linda Stidham, and Liz Hankins; in-laws Pete (Chris) Schneider, Francie Bien, Phoebe (Rick) Petticrew, Jimmy Schneider; his children Nancy Kay Stauber, Elizabeth Ruth (Sy) Bryant, Ramona Lynn Privett, and Margaret ‘Maggie’ Privett; Grandchildren Ashleigh Wallen, McKenzie Bryant, Lukas Bryant, Alex Bryant, Wanda Lewis, Jat Privett, Ashley Marie Privett, Jackie Privett, Evita Garcia, Elizabeth Garcia and Maggie Lou Garcia along with several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and further extended families.
