Ivy Tech graduation ceremony planned for Friday

Lawrenceburg, In. — Ivy Tech Community College will celebrate graduates from the Lawrenceburg campus and Batesville site at commencement ceremonies on Friday, May 10 at 6:30 p.m. at Lawrenceburg High School. Students earned 701 degrees and certificates during the 2018-2019 academic year.

Some highlights of the 2019 ceremony include:

  • The presence often high school seniors graduating with Ivy Tech credentials under the College’s “Start as a Sophomore” program, also known as the Statewide Transfer General Education Core (STGEC). These students will leave high school with 30 credit hours guaranteed to transfer to public four-year colleges in Indiana. They will walk the stage alongside their fellow college grads in full academic regalia. In all, 270 STGEC certificates will be awarded to Lawrenceburg and Batesville high school students for the 2018-19 school year.
  • Additionally, 17 Ivy Tech industry certificateswill be awarded to high school students sin the areas of information technology, phlebotomy technician, and welding technology. Coupled with STGEC credentials, these students are among the largest class of dual credit/dual enrollment students in the campus’s history. They represent 30% of the total credentials awarded at Ivy Tech Lawrenceburg this academic year
  • Ivy Tech Assistant V.P. Student Success Dr. Cory Clasemann-Ryan and student Hannah Rothwill be the featured speakers.
  • Gary Moeller andLeigh Allen will receive Honorary Degrees for their continued support of Ivy Tech and the Lawrenceburg and Batesville communities.
