(Columbus, IN) – An Indianapolis woman died in a two-vehicle crash on southbound I-65 in Bartholomew County Saturday morning.
The initial investigation by Master Trooper Tommy Walker with the Indiana State Police Versailles Post indicated a 2011 Honda CRV driven by 45-year-old Omotope G. Oyediran was traveling southbound on I-65 near the 73-mile marker, approaching the I-65 rest park. For an unknown reason, Oyediran’s vehicle left the west side of the roadway. Her vehicle then traveled into the rest area where it struck a parked 2020 International semi pulling a loaded box trailer.
Oyediran was pronounced dead at the scene.
The occupant of the semi was in the sleeper berth at the time of the collision, and he was not injured.
Trp. Walker was assisted by additional ISP troopers and the agency’s Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division.
The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Team responded to assist in reconstructing the crash. The German Township Volunteer Fire Department, Columbus Regional Ambulance Service, and the Bartholomew County Coroner’s Office also assisted.
The crash remains under investigation. Toxicology tests are pending.
