(Franklin County, IN) – Detectives from the Indiana State Police-Versailles Post began investigating a shooting that occurred early Tuesday morning at a residence near Laurel that sent one man to a Cincinnati hospital.
The initial investigation indicated that shortly before 5 a.m., a man attempted to get into a home on the 25,000 block of Chapel Road.
The homeowner fired at least one shot that struck the intruder.
The wounded man was transported to UC Medical Center with injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.
The investigation is ongoing, but detectives believe the two men knew each other and that this was not a random incident.
No arrests have been made.
The men’s names are not being released, pending the outcome of the investigation.
ISP received assistance at the scene by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and Letts EMS.
