ISP investigating four deaths near Madison

(Jefferson County, IN) – Detectives with the Indiana State Police-Versailles Post are investigating the deaths of four people after their bodies were found inside a burning home in Jefferson County just outside of Madison.

Upon arriving at the burning home on Telegraph Hill Road shortly after 4 pm Tuesday, firefighters entered the residence and located the bodies of the four victims.

Despite life saving measures, all four were pronounced dead at the scene.

After the fire was put out, State Police investigators were called to the scene.

Troopers say the names of the victims are being withheld pending proper identification.

Autopsies are scheduled to be performed in Hamilton County, Ohio to determine the cause and manner of death.

ISP is working with the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office, plus the Jefferson County Sheriff’s, Prosecutor’s, and Coroner’s offices during the investigation.
