ISP investigating Fayette County jail inmate’s death

CONNERSVILLE, IN — Detectives from the Indiana State Police Pendleton District were called early Saturday morning to assist in the investigation into the death of an inmate at the Fayette County Community Corrections.

40-year-old Billy W. Burdge of Connersville was found unresponsive in his bunk by Fayette County correctional staff, and medical personnel was notified.

Despite life-saving efforts from medical staff, Burge was pronounced dead by the Fayette County Coroner’s Office.

Burdge’s toxicology and autopsy report are pending, and the investigation is ongoing.

Indiana State Police detectives were assisted at the scene by members of the Fayette County Coroner’s Office, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, the Connersville Police Department, and the Fayette County Community Corrections.
