Irvin Joseph “Irv” Hartman, 86, of Greendale, Indiana, passed away on July 9, 2026 at his residence surrounded by his family.
Born on August 30, 1939, in Oldenburg, Indiana, Irv was the son of Frank and Mary (Werner) Hartman.
Irv proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserves. He dedicated many years of his career to Seagram’s Distillery, where he worked in bottling maintenance.
A lifelong supporter of his community, Irv was a member of the Lawrenceburg American Legion, the Knights of Columbus, and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, where he had been a member since 1958. He also devoted countless hours to local youth sports through his involvement with the Lawrenceburg Little League and Lawrenceburg Babe Ruth League, positively impacting generations of young athletes. In addition, he generously shared his time, talents, and treasures as a dedicated volunteer at St. Lawrence Catholic Church and St. Lawrence School.
Irv is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Frances M. (Schneider) Hartman; his children, Christy Barnachea (the late Geno), Dan (Beth) Hartman, and Jon (Tammy) Hartman; his cherished grandchildren, Alicia (fiancé Andy), Chris, Justin (Caitlyn), Phillip, Annie, Kaitlyn, Kylie, and Kade; his sisters, Geraldine Nobbe and Edith Eickhorst; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary Hartman, and his siblings, Marie Meyer, Jerome Hartman, Agnes Blankman, and Antonette Harpring.
Family and friends will be received at St. Lawrence Catholic Church 542 Walnut Street, Lawrenceburg, Indiana on Tuesday July 14, 2026 from 9:00 A.M. until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. Burial will take place at Greendale Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Gibault Children’s Services, or the Pregnancy Care Center.
