Irene M. Behlmer, age 93 of Batesville, Indiana died Saturday, May 26, 2018 at The Waters of Batesville. Born July 30, 1924 in Batesville, she is the daughter of Bertha (Nee: Hittel) and Michael Wernke. She married Henry Behlmer November 6, 1943 at the St. Louis Church Parsonage and he preceded her in death May 7, 2001.
Irene was a nurse’s aide at Margaret Mary Community Hospital and The Waters of Batesville for 15 years, before retiring and was a member of the V.F.W. Post #3183 Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by her daughters Vicki Cavins and Paula Behlmer, both of Batesville; sons Alfred Behlmer of Westport, Indiana and Robert Behlmer of Greensburg, Indiana; grandson Doug Behlmer and granddaughter Amanda Struewing. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son Michael Behlmer; sisters Ruth Mason and Helen Bateman; brothers Alfred, Leonard and William Wernke.
Funeral services will be private.
