Irene Feller Peters Hicks

Irene Feller Peters Hicks, 102, of Aurora, Indiana, passed away Monday October 12, 2020 in Dillsboro, Indiana.  She was born June 25, 1918 in New Alsace, IN, daughter of the late John Feller and Matilda (Brickler) Feller.

Irene worked as a cook and waitress for Ullrich’s Drug Store, with over 29 years of service. After Ullrich’s, Irene worked side by side with her daughter Patty at the Coachlight Inn well into her 80’s and 90’s. She was a member of St Mary’s Catholic Church.

As her children were growing up Irene always had a house full of children, and not only her own. The children would come over and have dance parties, no shoes allowed, socks only, her way of dusting her hardwood floors. Irene was a great cook. Every celebration, from Easter to Christmas and everything in between, was held at her home on Eleanor Lane. No invitations required, everyone knew that Irene had it handled. She could not do enough for people, if she was needed, she was there. She loved time with her family and she will be missed by all.

Irene is survived by her children, Charlotte Hastings of Aurora, IN, Kenneth L. (Zora) Peters of Aurora, IN, Linda Smithers of Aurora, IN, Donna VanOstrand of Trenton, OH and Michael (Diane) Peters of Aurora, IN; brother, Donald (Hazel) Feller of Harrison, OH; 15 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Raymond Peters and Elmer Hicks; daughter, Patricia A Carter; grandchildren, Gary Peters, Blaise Nelson Lawless, and Sophia VanOstrand; step sons, Richard and Hubert Hicks.
