Intoxicated driver stopped for going 109 MPH with child in vehicle

Jackson County, IN — A trooper from the Indiana State Police-Versailles Post stopped a vehicle for traveling 109 mph on I-65 in northern Jackson County Wednesday morning.

The driver was arrested after the investigation determined he was intoxicated with a BAC of three times the legal limit while having a young child in the car.

The investigation by Trooper Korry Clark began at approximately 10:00 am when he stopped a 2020 Toyota passenger car on I-65 Northbound near the Jackson/Bartholomew County line for traveling well over the posted 70 mph speed limit.

During the course of the traffic stop, Trp. Clark observed that the driver, 36-year-old Anthony A. Reed of Huntsville, Alabama, showed signs of intoxication.

Reed was transported to the Seymour Police Department where he submitted to a breath test for intoxication.

The test determined he had a BAC of .24%.

He was transported to the Jackson County Jail where he was remanded to the custody of the jail staff on preliminary charges of Operating While Intoxicated with a Prior Conviction, Operating While Intoxicated with a Child Under the Age of 18, and Operating with a BAC of .15% or greater.

More charges are possible.

An adult female passenger and the child were released from the scene.
