UPDATE: Captured – Inmate escape causes school delay

Update (April 9, 7:00 am) – According to the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) Day was captured around 3 pm on Thursday at a residence in Brookville.  She was transported back to the Decatur County Detention Center where she awaits trial.  The DCSO was assisted during the search by the Greensburg Police Department, Indiana State Police, The Westport Police Department, and Decatur County Communications.

Update (April 8, 2020 at 8:00 am) – The Decatur County Sheriff’s Office reports that at approximately 5:40 am, inmate April Nicole Day, 20 years old, escaped from custody while at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital. Female is described as a white female, 5’6, approximately 160 pounds with bleach blonde hair and blue eyes. The female was last seen in the area of the hospital approximately 2 hours ago. She was last seen wearing a black sports bra, black shorts, no shoes, and was on foot. Original Story (April 8, 2020 at 7:00 am) – Officials have confirmed that a female from the Decatur County Detention Center escaped the custody of the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office this morning while at Decatur County Memorial Hospital while being checked for medical issues.

Greensburg Community School Corporation as well as St. Mary’s and Good Shepard Academy are on a two-hour delay this morning as a precaution while law enforcement continues to find the individual.

The female is described as a thin blonde, with no shoes, black shorts, and a black bra.  She is said to have no weapons on her.  If you see a woman matching this description, do not attempt to apprehend her.  Please call 911 or Decatur County Communications at 812-222-4911
