(Decatur County, IN) – An inmate who was granted a furlough from the Decatur County Detention Center but did not come back as promised was arrested by sheriff’s deputies on Monday and charged with Failure to Return to Lawful Detention (Level 6 felony).

The Decatur County Sheriff’s Office says 39-year-old Thomas EJ Moore was granted a furlough last month by Decatur Superior Court so that he could attend a family member’s funeral.

The release was to occur at 8 am on April 11 and Moore was ordered to return that afternoon by 3.

Deputies say Moore failed to return as ordered, and they later discovered he did not attend the funeral.

With the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service, Moore was located in Bloomington and returned to the Decatur County Detention Center.
